Artisan Sourdough 101
$150.00

Celebrate Mother’s Day with Passion for Spices and private chef/sourdough expert Kelly of Kell’s Kitchen at a beginner sourdough demo/tasting on Friday, May 8, 2026!

During this engaging and informative class, students will prepare their own starter to take and use at home. Chef Kelly will demonstrate how to start, fold, shape, and proof a loaf of sourdough, all while answering common sourdough questions, including how to properly feed and store your starter at home.

Each student will be given a batch of dough (prepared prior to class by Chef Kelly) to shape and place in their own Banneton bread proofing basket (included in the price of the class). As your dough rests and rises, Chef Kelly will share tips for how to properly bake your loaf at home (students are advised to use a dutch oven).

After the demonstration, students will be able to enjoy some snacks alongside a loaf of regular sourdough and a Harissa Roasted Garlic sourdough:

  • Mediterranean Style Yogurt Chickpea Salad with Herbs

  • Chicken Shawarma

  • Ezme (Spicy Turkish Salad/Spread)

  • Dessert: Blueberry Lemon Sourdough

About Chef Kelly:

Chef Kelly trained at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont, where she built a strong foundation in classical technique and seasonal cooking. Since 2017, she’s worked on the line at some of Vermont’s most respected kitchens, beginning at Shelburne Farms and continuing at Hen of the Wood, where she refined her approach to ingredient-driven, thoughtful cuisine.

In 2024, Chef Kelly launched her private chef business, creating personalized menus for intimate dinners and gatherings. Alongside her savory cooking, she’s been baking sourdough bread for nearly a decade using her 9-year-old starter, a practice that reflects her passion for patience, craft, and deeply rooted food traditions.
