Passion for Spices™ launched our Cook at Home Virtual Cooking Classes to provide online guidance and instruction to participants in the comfort of home. Our professional team members are ready to guide you step-by-step to learn the basics of cooking, around the world cooking, or advanced level techniques. Our knowledgeable staff will walk you through a “live” and personalized step-by-step instruction to create tasty and balanced meals. As always we emphasize fresh, local and quality ingredients. We are grateful for our local partners, food service vendors, and farmers who are ready to roll up their sleeves and serve our families. Let’s all come together while staying apart!

Born in northern California, James Peterson traveled around the world, working his way through Asia and Europe. In '70s, he landed in Paris and was amazed by the French attitude toward food; it was here in France where he found his calling to cook. …

Born in northern California, James Peterson traveled around the world, working his way through Asia and Europe. In '70s, he landed in Paris and was amazed by the French attitude toward food; it was here in France where he found his calling to cook. Jim returned to the United States and got his first cooking job as a short-order cook. While the cuisine was not 3-star, there was still the need for speed and organization. After saving money for a year, Jim returned to France where he worked at two of what were then among France's greatest restaurants, George Blanc and Vivarois. It was his experiences in these restaurants as well as his pasty studies at Le Cordon Bleu that shaped his style of cooking and drove his pursuit of cuisine as a career.

With over 30 years of professional culinary experience, Chef Mathur is best known as a tandoor master of traditional clay ovens, hailed the Yo-Yo Ma of tandoori cooking. He is the first Indian chef in the US to earn a Michelin star and retain it across two New York City restaurants, Devi and Tulsi, and is currently the co-owner and executive chef of Saar Indian Bistro in New York City. His long-standing presence in the global fine dining industry has helped lay the groundwork for the current elevation and appreciation of India’s underrepresented regional cuisines from his home state of Jaipur and across India.
